If any member demonstrates poor sportsmanship, the following consequences will apply during games:
The first time any such infraction occurs, the player in question will be given a yellow card and the opposing team will receive a point (FIVB 22.3.1).
The second time any such infraction occurs within the same game, the player in question will be given a red card and is suspended from the game (FIVB 22.3.2).
If the player is still causing problems, the third infraction will result in a combination red and yellow card. The player must leave the gym (FIVB 22.3.3) and will be suspended for the following week of TSVL play.
Review of TSVL Membership
In addition to the aforementioned consequences, any player who receives a red card at any time throughout the season will have his/her membership status reviewed by the TSVL Executive. The player may incur additional suspensions or ultimately have his/her membership within the league revoked.
If the subsequent infractions do not occur within the same game, the '3-strike' rule will still apply in a cumulative fashion. Therefore, if the same person receives a yellow card three times over the span of the season, he/she will be suspended for the week following his/her third infraction.
If an infraction has occurred outside of play (i.e. after play has ended, unsportmanlike behaviour is directed towards the referee or the opposing team) or if a referee neglects to follow through with a red or yellow card, the TSVL Executive may deem such an infraction as the equivalent of a card and act accordingly.
If, after a suspension, another infraction occurs at any time throughout the season, the person's membership status will be reviewed by the executive. The player may incur additional suspensions or ultimately have his or her membership within the league revoked. |
