Recreational Division

Registration for the Winter 2012 season of the recreational division of the TSVL is now closed.  If you would like to be added to our waiting list, please contact John at rec@tsvl.org.

The recreational division in the TSVL plays every Thursday evening and helps newcomers to volleyball learn more about the sport.  It also allows more experienced players to enjoy the game in a more relaxed atmosphere. Focus in this division is on physical activity, development and socializing. There are two seasons in this division, the first being our Fall season, which starts in September and goes until December. The second is our Winter season, which commences in January and ends in April. Individuals looking to play in the recreational division must sign-up as an individual. The cost per season is $75. Registrants attend a skills assessment night, prior to the start of the season. The assessment committee evaluates skill level in the various aspects of volleyball (passing, setting, serving, etc.). Players are then drafted by captains in a system that balances the overall skill level of each team, leaving a wide range of skills on each team which allows for beginners to play with more skilled players so that they can learn the rules of the game and develop their skills.

After the evening games, many players continue their on-court camaraderie by enjoying some drinks and free pizza at George's Play (463 Church St.).
