The TSVL Recreational League has no tryouts. However players should be physically fit enough to play volleyball and have some prior playing experience (no matter how long ago). The league is open to women and men and there is no differentiation on the court - teams are constructed by a random draw and then further vetted by the Executive and Captains to ensure that teams are of similar strength at the start of the season.

At the beginning of each season, after current players who are returning are processed, any remaining spaces are opened up for new players and filled on a first-come, first-served basis at a sign-up night. Overall league membership is capped at a number determined by gym space availability. For the 2007-2008 season we will be capping the Rec. division at 216 members.
